"WHAT DOES PHILOSOPHY MEAN?"

Pastor Selara R. Mann, Jr.

Exacting Truth Ministries

Definition:

Philosophy (n.)- pursuit of wisdom; a search for a general understanding of values and reality by chiefly speculative rather than observational means; an analysis of the grounds of and concepts expressing fundamental beliefs.

Summary:

We have often been taught through our religious foundations and roots to not only fear philosophy but to steer away from it. The supreme failing of this presumptuous ruling is that philosophy definitively simply means the pursuit and love of wisdom. All of modern invention and discovery is based in philosophy. Philosophy is therefore not something to be feared by the followers of the Christ but to be cherished-all of humanity needs to return or perhaps simply arrive at the point of not only pursuing wisdom but falling in love with it. As Proverbs 4:7 clearly states, wisdom is the principle thing.
