Yəhōshūa-“God is help”. Hebrew syncopated variation is Yēshūa. Aramaic proper name is Jeshua meaning "Jah is salvation.” Greek it is Iesous ee-ay-sooce.’ Latin it is Iesu or Iesus. Modern English usage is Jesu. A revival of the model based on Latin & Greek Jesus gradually supplanted the older form.

The name of Jesus the Christ has been the substance of our song and worship from the hymns of old to modern-day lyrics. The name itself has become a life-line, a connection to salvation, the substance and reason for hope and joy’s existence. But, was Jesus the Christ the name of our Savior?

Vowels and even the letter "J" itself are not used in Hebrew-making it impossible for Jesus to have been the name of our Savior and hope of salvation in origin. Jesus is simply a derivative from a long line of translations through languages to the present-day English. The reason for the importance in distinction in dealing with the name of the Christ can and has been questioned. For, in this day and time, humanity has by default and through ignorance of simply not knowing designated power to that name. But, for the answer to the question of relevance and importance of this knowledge, all one must do is turn to the passage in John 4:24 in which Yəhōshūa, Jesus the Christ laid the foundation for how we as the followers of Him must worship God-in spirit and in truth. A synonym for the word truth is fact. In other words, we must worship Him in spirit and in fact. How can we worship Him in fact if we fail to learn and hold on to and cherish the facts-including knowing what in origin our Messiah’s name was who laid down the foundation of how to worship Him to begin with?
