Honest (adj.) - honorable in principles, intentions, and actions; gained or obtained fairly; genuine or unadulterated.
[Latin- "honestus" from "honōs" which means literally distinguished.]
Honesty is more than simply truth-telling. It involves actions, intent, and principles that cannot be drawn into question. It comes from the root word "honōs" meaning distinguished, which is what all those of faith are called to be for distinguished is synonymous with being set apart or sanctified. Its value and importance cannot be questioned for true progress is a result that only begins with honesty at its base. Oftentimes however, honesty is thwarted due to fear of possible conjecture involving one's own flaws or actions. Abstaining from being honest however always leads to a negative result, even if the time frame varies from seconds to decades. Those who are harmed the most by a lack of honesty in most cases are those we love the most.
