"Promoting Natural and Spiritual Growth- Avoiding the Desire for Suppression"

Pastor Selara R. Mann, Jr.

January 18, 2014

Grow (verb) - to increase by natural development as any living organism or part by assimilation of nutrient; increase in size or substance, become greater or larger [Old High German- gruoen from the root of the word grass]
Synonyms - develop, multiply, swell, enlarge, expand, extend, raise, cultivate, produce; Antonyms - decrease, wane

The flesh so often when it feels pain desires not to grow but to simply regress and suppress the pain. It does not envision the increase and new possibilities open only through growth. All it feels is the present incarnation of discomfort. Like an old pair of shoes that have grown too small, it is simply a rebalancing of resource to find a way to get a new pair in order to ease the pain and find new paths to walk and stand. But sometimes rather than seek new shoes, we either go without them altogether or find ourselves standard, afraid to move due to the discomfort that we feel.

The first step to a new level of responsibility and service is not immense monetary blessing or showering of divine favor involving a new level of peace and friendships. It is quite the opposite. Suffering and refinement involved in growth prepares us for the latter if we find a way to avoid the desire for suppression. Satan, literally whatever is adversarial against us, does not have physical hands to stop us. His ability ends at simple influence for us to stop us. So next time you hear that small voice in your mind saying do you feel pain, are you hurting, you survived so much why are you still suffering, remember that blessing awaits at the end of the darkest of nights. Pain is simply a sign that growth is occurring. Join Pastor Selara R. Mann, Jr. as he takes an in-depth look at the importance of understanding all that growth both spiritually and naturally entails through the use of real-life scenarios and Biblical examples.
