"A Closer Look At Love"
May 6, 2015
Love (N.)- a deep feeling of warm personal attachment or affection. [L. lubēre- LL -libēre - “to be pleasing”]
Emotion (N.)- any of the feelings of joy, sorrow, fear, hate, love, etc. [Vulgar Latin - ēmovēre - “move, motion”]
Christ instructed us in Matthew to love our neighbor literally as ourselves. How can we do that if we fail to understand or even desire to love ourselves? All bets are off and there is not a context to start understanding love or giving love without loving who we literally are. We often encourage individuals to love, but often fail to closely examine even what it means. It is often over-simplified and yet at times added to. Love is a deep personal choice of attachment. To give love or to receive it, we have to want to.
I Corinthians 13 could never truly be understood without reading it through the premise of loving ourselves first. Even understanding God and accepting His love for what it is requires us to fall in love with who we are and were created to be. It begins with loving you... Join Pastor Selara R. Mann, Jr. as he takes an in-depth look at love through the use of real-life scenarios and Biblical examples. Follow along with him as he lays the foundation for why it is vitally important for our spiritual as well as natural success to take the gloves off and begin to love us so we can truly love those around us.
